Acommodation rules
Cancellation policy The following is a summary of the apartment cancellation policy. The policy is subject to real-time changes. Please refer to the official website and the contract for the latest information.
England & Wales 2025/26 Cancellation Policy
1. Cooling-Off Period Cancellation
- Applicable Conditions: Within 14 days after signing the contract, and the keys have not been collected and the contract has not come into effect.
- Operation Method: Notify the apartment manager in writing or by email.
- Refund: A refund of £250 prepaid rent and other paid rent will be provided.
2. Semesters Starting After January 1, 2025 (Semester 2/3)
- Zero-Liability Cancellation: If cancelled more than 8 weeks before the contract takes effect, a full refund will be given.
- Cooling-Off Period: Cancellation is still allowed within 14 days after signing the contract (subject to the same conditions as above).
3. Cancellation Outside the Cooling-Off Period
- Written Application Required: However, rent must continue to be paid until a replacement tenant is found.
4. Visa Rejection
- Conditions:
- Solution: You can transfer to an apartment in another city or terminate the contract (the refund will be subject to the deduction of the rent that has already come into effect).
5. Not Accepted by the University (Freshmen Only)
- Conditions:
- Refund: A full refund of the prepaid rent and other paid rent will be provided.
Scotland 2025/26 Cancellation Policy
(Basically the same as the terms in England & Wales. The following are the differences):
- Semester Cancellation: Applicable to semesters starting after January 1, 2026. Zero-liability cancellation is allowed 8 weeks before the start of the semester.
- Deadline for Not Being Accepted: Also August 22, 2025.
General Terms
- Refund Method: £250 prepaid rent plus other paid rent.
- After the Contract Comes into Effect: If the keys have been collected, rent must be paid according to the contract until a replacement tenant is found.
- Subletting Option: In case of visa/admission issues, you can apply to transfer to an apartment in another city of YUGO.
The final interpretation right belongs to the apartment.
